Giggles

Abby is just starting to giggle. She coos a lot when she smiles, but I've only heard a true, heart felt giggle a couple of times. One time was last night... in her sleep. It came across loud and clear on the monitor. It made me smile. And then think, what does a seven week old dream about that makes her giggle out loud in her sleep??

Growing girl..

The other day I was looking a bunch of pictures I had ordered from Snapfish last month. They are of Abby when she was first born. I can't believe how much she as changed in just two months. As much as I like to see her grow and do more things each day, I kinda want to slow these days down. I don't want her to grow up to fast :)

We have settled into a routine of sorts. At the moment (and I know I'm going to jinx myself) she is sleeping between 5.5 and six hours at night (I'm knocking on wood), which means we only get up once at night. Anywhere between 12:30 am and 1:30 am. She typically gets up around 6:30 am for the day.

After a morning bottle, we take a quick cat nap around 8:30 and then we are up for a bit. I try to go out during the day, have lunch with a friend, run an errand, walk around the mall.. around 11ish. Abby will typically sleep once I put her in the car. We do lunch around 12ish and then sleep until about 4pm. If she doesn't, things can get a bit hairy. Which is what happened today, It was beautiful here, nearly 70 degrees, so I decided to go for a long walk. I thought she would sleep the entire time. However, the sidewalks in our neighborhood are not all that smooth. There is no home owners association, so the sidewalks are all uneven and can be somewhat of a bumpy ride for a sleepy newborn. So needless to say, she was a bit cranky this afternoon.

Okay - if you are still reading this, I'm sure that you are bored to tears, but you now know what I do all day. exciting stuff, eh?

And now for the exciting stuff, more pictures! Abby is getting great control of her head and I think she is just days away from rolling over. Enjoy!

Abby's first trip to Michigan

On Friday, January 30, Abby and I headed to snow and cold Michigan, while Micah headed to sunny Florida. Yeah, not fair I know. Micah and his father got tickets to the SuperBowl and since being alone for five days by myself with a six week old didn't sound all that fun, I decided to go to Michigan to spend the weekend with my parents.

Abby and I got through security fine, with the help of several very nice TSA agents who helped me fold up the stroller and get it through the x-ray machine. Once we got all put back together, I grabbed breakfast and fed Abby. I had it all timed out so that she wouldn't be screaming for food when our flight took off at 9:05am. Well I thought I had. Due to mechanical difficulties with our plane, the flight was delayed. We didn't end up taking off until 11:45 am. I was concerned that if it was delayed any more that I was going to run out of diapers. (I had packed 4, but didn't plan on being that delayed.) The fortunate part of the delay is that at least we were waiting at the gate and not in the plane.
We did end up getting to Michigan and had a great trip. Abby was great. She slept the entire time. Savta (mom/Ellen) met us and within seconds of seeing Abby, she picked her up and gave her tons of kisses.

The weekend was fun. Mom and I did some shopping and lots of scrapbooking. Dad and I made lots of yummy goodies for the SuperBowl. Abby even got dressed up for the big event in her Steelers outfit, however, she wasn't that into the game and cried for pretty much the entire first half. I gave her a bath and put her to bed at halftime, so she missed the great second half.
Savta also took tons of pictures of Abby. As you can see from below, Abby has begun to smile at people and even let out a little giggle or two. I think my favorite pictures are of her in the blue seat with the "don king" hair.

The trip was so much fun and we both survived the airplane trip by ourselves. Abby will shortly become a world traveler. Our next trip is in March to see Jill and Miles in Nashville. (For those of you in NH, don't worry, we will make our way up north - just as soon as all the snow melts :) )
I love hanging out in my car seat!!

Don't you love my hair?? Thanks Savta!!
